Our Story
Geetings, Inc., was founded in 1972 by Delroy “Wayne” Geetings. Wayne had completed only a sixth-grade education, but his drive and motivation made him a successful entrepreneur. His many businesses included a landfill, a filling station, a pool hall, a car dealership, and an excavating company.
Wayne was 54 when he began his trucking company. Wayne’s family, including his wife Jennie, and four children, put forth their money, time, and talent in order to make the business a success. Thirty-five years later, the company continues to operate using Wayne’s motto for life: “If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right!”
Wayne served as president of the original corporation with his eldest son, Ron, presiding as vice-president, the next oldest, Don, as secretary, and Larry as treasurer.
Wayne’s death in 1993 led to a few changes in the structure of the business. Wayne’s wife, Jennie, continues to uphold the Geetings’ family legacy by presiding as president. The other board positions remain the same, with the addition of Wayne’s daughter, Lana, as an additional vice-president. All four children remain active in the daily operation of the company. They continue to work with the dream of one day passing the legacy on to their children.
In January of 1972, the trucking portion of Geetings began with a haul to Des Moines for Rolscreen (Pella Corp.) two times a week. As the need for transportation increased, Geetings continued to expand in order to provide a variety of services. Trucking proved to be a lucrative business so the company later added a shop and additional buildings to service equipment.
In 1975, Geetings expanded to the nearby town of Knoxville with the dream of opening a trucking terminal which continues to be managed by the Geetings family and operated based on Wayne’s original values of integrity, honesty, respect, and loyalty.
As Geetings expands, we will never forget the money, time, and effort put forth by the founder, Wayne, his wife, Jennie, their children, Ron, Don, Larry, and Lana, and an excellent team of dedicated, motivated employees. These people have ensured that Geetings, Inc. will deliver “quality service, one customer at a time!”
